I have really enjoyed my time volunteering as a befriender. Something as small as having a chat for an hour made a huge difference in the elderly ladies life. It was also a very rewarding experience for myself as I felt I was giving back to the community and it was lovely to hear about someone's life from a completely different background to my own. I would recommend anyone interested in volunteering to definitely go ahead and pursue it.
